Lost signal

DESIGN / ANIMATION

Brief

‘LOST SIGNAL’ is a test project I made that explored displacement maps and relief shading style textures in Cinema4D using Redshift. I spent a lot of time testing and comparing noise shaders versus actual topological maps. Although topological maps are more realistic, noise shaders offer more control. As a fan of title sequences, especially in the thriller / spy genre, I added some airplane models and cartographic trails for fun.

Airplane model is a stock asset.

NOISE MAP COMPARISONS

Some of my experiments led me to these interesting animations using noise maps to generate topographic reliefs. Could they represent exploring a new land? Could it represent heading into the unknown?
